ABOUT CYBER SAFETY COP
Who is Clayton Cranford and what is Cyber Safety Cop?
Clayton Cranford is one of the nation’s leading law enforcement educators on social media, child safety, and online threats. A 20-year veteran with experience as a School Resource Officer, Juvenile Investigator, Crisis Negotiator, and Behavioral Threat Assessor, he founded Cyber Safety Cop to equip parents, educators, and students with practical tools to navigate the digital world safely. He is also the recipient of the 2015 National Bullying Prevention Award.
What makes Cyber Safety Cop different from other digital safety programs?
Our approach is rooted in real law enforcement experience — not theory. Clayton has investigated all forms of crimes against children and has sat across from families dealing with cyberbullying, sextortion, online predators, and fentanyl deals made through social media. Every presentation is built on what actually happens to kids online, delivered in a calm, non-fear-based framework that empowers rather than panics. We meet parents and students where they are and give them actionable skills.
What topics do your programs cover?
Our programs cover a wide range of digital safety issues, including: cyberbullying and online harassment, online predators and grooming behaviors, screen time and social media addiction, sextortion awareness and prevention, fentanyl and drug solicitation on social media, online pornography and its impact, building a positive digital reputation, and behavioral threat assessment for school safety professionals.
STUDENT ASSEMBLIES
What grade levels do the student assemblies cover?
Our student assemblies are age-appropriate presentations for grades K through 12. Content is carefully tailored to each developmental level — what we discuss with elementary students is very different from what we address with high schoolers. We cover foundational digital citizenship for younger students and deeper issues like sextortion, online reputation, and fentanyl for older grades.
How long is a student assembly and what format does it take?
The Kindergarten through Third Grade assembly is 30 minutes in length. All the other student assemblies are 45 minutes in length. They can be delivered in small groups, individual classrooms, or in an auditorium to hundreds of students at once. Every presentation addresses three core areas: the dangers of sharing personal information with strangers, anti-bullying strategies, and how to create a positive online reputation.
Will the assembly scare or upset students?
Our presentations are engaging and empowering, not fear-based. We want students to walk away feeling informed and capable — not anxious. Clayton’s approach draws on his experience as a school resource officer; he knows how to speak to students in a way that is honest, age- appropriate, and memorable without causing alarm.
PARENT WORKSHOPS
What is the 'Parenting in the Digital World' seminar?
Based on Clayton’s acclaimed book of the same name, this is a 90-minute parent seminar that covers how to effectively supervise your child on social media, protect them from online threats, and restore healthy technological balance at home. It is taught by law enforcement officers and educators who have deep experience working with children — and who are parents themselves.
My child is young and doesn't have a phone yet — is the workshop still relevant for me?
Absolutely. The best time to build digital safety habits is before a device arrives. The workshop covers how to set expectations, establish family tech rules, and have conversations with your child before they enter the digital world unsupervised. Parents who attend early often tell us it changed how they thought about when — and how — to introduce technology at home.
I'm not very tech-savvy. Will I be able to follow along?
Yes — and you’re exactly who we designed this for. No technical background is required. Clayton translates complex social media environments and online risks into plain language. You’ll leave with specific, practical steps you can take immediately, regardless of your comfort level with technology.

Do you offer active shooter prevention training?
Yes. It incorporates Clayton’s background with the Orange County School Threat Assessment Team and includes behavioral threat assessment principles.

Do you cover drug safety in your school programs?
Yes — and it’s increasingly one of our most requested topics. We address the growing dangers of vaping, marijuana, and fentanyl-laced counterfeit pills that are being solicited through social media platforms. Students today can unknowingly purchase a counterfeit pill online believing it to be something safe. Our program gives students and parents the awareness they need.
ONLINE COURSES
Do you offer online courses for parents who can't attend in person?
Yes. Clayton offers a comprehensive online course for parents that covers all the core topics: cyberbullying, online predators, screen time management, and conversations about pornography and substance abuse — all at your own pace. The course delivers the same expert content as a live seminar, accessible from anywhere.
Is there a course for law enforcement or school safety professionals?
Yes. We offer specialized training for law enforcement officers, school counselors, administrators, and threat assessment professionals. These courses include the threat assessment-intervention model used in real school safety investigations, behavioral indicators of someone on the pathway to violence, and strategies for managing individuals of concern.
