The Art of Screen Time Negotiation
A professionally facilitated evening workshop giving your school community’s parents practical, research-informed tools for reducing screen conflict at home — and building stronger family relationships.
WHY SCHOOLS ARE BOOKING THIS
The Conflict Is Real. The Solutions Exist.
Screen time battles are among the most common stressors families bring into schools. Students arriving dysregulated, distracted, or sleep-deprived after late-night device use is a pattern teachers and counselors see every day — but the root of the problem plays out at home.
This workshop gives parents the concrete communication skills to address it. Not by taking devices away or installing monitoring software — but by building the conversations and family agreements that actually hold over time.
The result is a calmer home dynamic that shows up in school: students who are better rested, less anxious, and less reactive.

Built for Community Parent Events
This workshop is designed to complement your school’s existing family engagement and digital wellness programming.
This workshop works well for:
✓ Schools hosting Parent Learning Nights or Family Engagement events
✓ PTA/PTO community programs seeking high-attendance, practical topics
✓ Middle and high school communities where device conflict is escalating
✓ Counseling departments looking for parent-side complements to student programming
✓ Districts with new 1:1 device initiatives who want to support families in the transition
✓ Community organizations partnered with local schools on wellness programming
Not a fit if you’re looking for:
✗ A fear-based or shock-factor presentation about online dangers
✗ A technology policy lecture or parental monitoring software demo
✗ A student-facing assembly (this workshop is designed for parent audiences only)
✗ A passive listening experience — parents participate in activities and reflection
Note: Cyber Safety Cop also offers separate student-facing digital safety programs for grades 4–12. Ask about bundling.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the workshop, and what does a typical evening look like?
The complete program are three 90-minute sessions, with structured activities woven throughout so it never feels like a lecture. We’re flexible and will work within your event schedule.
What does the school need to provide?
A room large enough for your expected audience, a projector and screen, and a microphone if the space is larger. We take care of the rest — including printed Parent Handbooks for every attendee, which are included in the workshop fee.
What grade levels is this appropriate for?
This workshop is best suited to parents of students in grades 4 through 12. The content is most relevant when children are old enough to have their own devices and the parent-child negotiation around screen time is already a regular occurrence.
Does this coordinate with Cyber Safety Cop's student programs?
Yes — and combining both amplifies the impact significantly. When students and parents are introduced to similar frameworks and language at the same time, household conversations shift. Many schools book a student assembly and a parent workshop in the same week. Ask about bundled scheduling when you reach out.
Is there a minimum or maximum audience size?
The workshop works well for audiences from 10 to 300+ parents. The format is designed to scale — activities are structured so everyone participates regardless of room size.
How far in advance do we need to book?
We recommend booking 4–8 weeks in advance to allow time for promotion within your school community. That said, we occasionally have openings for shorter lead times — reach out and we’ll let you know what’s available.
Does the workshop use a fear-based or alarmist approach?
No — and this is intentional. Cyber Safety Cop’s philosophy is built on empowerment, not fear. The workshop does not use shocking statistics or scare tactics to motivate parents. Instead, it builds genuine communication skills that work long after the event is over.
What is the fee structure?
Pricing varies based on location and whether you’re bundling with a student program. Contact us to receive a detailed proposal tailored to your school’s needs and budget.
